The Iowa Army National Guard called Heuss Construction when it became apparent that the roofs on their buildings at Fort Des Moines were past their usable lifespan. These buildings have been used in the past to train soldiers for World War I and II. In 1974, Fort Des Moines was named a National Landmark. Though these buildings are a national treasure, their roofs were not. Heuss Construction installed a new roof and gutters to prolong the life of the historical buildings.
